NEW TURKISH CINEMA IN EUROPE

The London Turkish Film Festival is convening a one-day panel discussion, bringing together film directors, producers and film critics from Turkey with writers and critics from the British film and media scene.

The panel 'New Turkish Cinema in Europe' seeks to introduce fresh perspectives on Turkish cinema, introducing new films from Turkey to the moving image establishment in Britain.

The aim of the panel is to raise awareness in Britain about the new generation of Turkish films, and to draw attention to what is new and different in contemporary Turkish cinema.

The panel is organised by the London Turkish Film Festival, in collaboration with the Transcultural Research Unit at Goldsmiths College.

Speakers include film directors from Turkey, such as Umit Unal, Ezel Akay, Omer Vargi and Dervis Zaim, actors and actresses from Turkey, such as Lale Mansur, film critics, film promoters, producers, and also film writers and distributors from the UK.

Date: 5 December 2004
Time: 10.30-16.30
Place: Abney Public Hall, 73a Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16 0AS

The panel is open to the public and admission is free.
