ONE DAY (12A)
(UK 2011) dir. Lone Scherfig 108m.
Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess, Patricia Clarkson, Georgia King, Jodie Whittaker.
This adaptation of David Nicholls' much-loved best-selling novel is the delightfully romantic tale of two opposites: Emma, a working-class girl of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place and Dexter, a wealthy charmer who dreams that the world will be his playground. They meet as students on 15 July 1988 and so begins a friendship that will last a lifetime. We meet them again on the anniversary of that date over the next 23 years to catch up with their divergent lives and loves. But will they ever realise that they belong together? An equally loved Dalston landmark makes a cameo appearance!
