GILDA (PG)
(US 1946) dir. Charles Vidor 110m. Digital.
Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, George Macready, Joseph Calleia.
Rita Hayworth shimmers in this film noir classic as Gilda, devil-may-care femme fatale but also the vulnerable wife of crooked Argentinian casino owner George Macready. Glenn Ford is her husband's new employee and someone who shares Gilda's secret past. Deceit, betrayal and classic hard as diamonds dialogue are all as expected but Hayworth's slinky striptease to 'Put the Blame on Mame' is in a class of its own.
