The Rio’s monthly Classic Matinees take place on the first or second Wednesday of the month. There is an interval for every film, and extra seating is provided in the foyer. We are delighted that thanks to funding from the City Bridge Trust we are able to offer free admission. We are also able to offer free tea and cake! Please come along and enjoy a film and a chat!
These screenings are also open to everyone else at normal weekday matinee ticket prices. |

DE-LOVELY (PG)
(US/UK 2004) dir. Irwin Winkler 125m.
Kevin Kline, Ashley Judd, Jonathan Pryce, Keith Allan.
Legendary song-writer Cole Porter (Kevin Kline) looks back on his life as if it was one of his spectacular stage shows, with people and events becoming the actors and action onstage. A sparkling celebration of Porter's music, plus a stirring exploration of his elegant, excessive past and his deeply complicated relationship with wife and muse, Linda Lee Porter (Ashley Judd). Performed by such modern greats as Alanis Morissette, Natalie Cole, Robbie Williams, Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow, such stylish classics as "Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love", "Let's Misbehave", and "Anything Goes" take on whole new meanings.
